Eagle Chapter representatives participate in 2013 Memorial Day Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Women's Memorial

Our Memorial Day 2013 events include formal wreath laying ceremonies at the Air Force Memorial and Women's Memorial in Arlington Virginia as well as wreath layings at the Veterans Affairs cemetery Hampton Memorial Gardens in Hampton Virginia and other memorials in Washington DC. Eagle Chapter also places Defensor Fortis flags at Security Forces grave sites in Hampton and Arlington National Cemetery.

Eagle Chapter was extremely delighted to be invited to participate in the formal wreath laying ceremony. Our thanks to Lieutenant Colonel Jennifer Aquinas, 512th Security Forces Squadron (AFRES) Dover Air Force Base DE and Staff Sergeant Natasha Bradford, 11th Security Forces Group, Joint Base Andrews MD for volunteering to represent the chapter at this very worthwhile event.

memorial Day Wreath Laying - the Air Force Memorial
Memorial Day 2013, Eagle Chapter continued it's tradition of laying a wreath at the Air Force Memorial. Eagle Chapter has laid a wreath at every Memorial Day service since the first service in 2007 folliowing it's dedication in October 2006.

Eagle Chapter Wreath Placements at Military Memorials in Washington DC and Hampton National Cemetery Hampton VA
In addition to wreaths placed at the Air Force Memorial and the Women's Memorial, Eagle Chapter places wreaths in honor of our fallen at the Vietnam War Memorial, Vietnam War Women's Memorial, Korean War Memorial and World War II Memorial in observance of Memorial Day services.
Memorial Day Remembrance - our Security forces Airmen and family members
In addition to placing wreaths at memorials, Eagle Chapter places a Defensor Fortis flag at Arlington National Cemetery and the VA Cemetery at Hampton Memorial Gardens Hampton VA for Security Forces members and family members who have been buried there since the creation of Eagle Chapter. 2013 is the first time that we've had a Security Forces member who died and was interred at Hampton. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members and supporters.
Eagle Member, Major (Ret) Luther K. (Luke) Duffield II
Luke was the first Eagle Chapter member to expire after the chapter was created. His neice, Fritzi Barbour, sent us this photo along with her thanks for remembering her "Uncle Duff" on Memorial Day. We had placed the flag. She added the flowers for Luther and his wife, Effie, who is also buried at Arlington with Luther, while she was travelling through from South Carolina.
