Background.  Eagle Chapter began placing wreaths at memorials in Washington DC the first Memorial Day after we were created in the Spring of 2004.  We started placing wreaths at the Vietnam War Memorial, Vietnam War Women's Memorial and the Korean War Memorial. Each Memorial Day and each Veterans Day, we remember our veterans by placing or laying wreaths at these memorials. Since then, two other veterans memorials have been built - the Air Force Memorial and the World War II Memorial - and we've added the Women's Memorial to our support. 

In 2013, the Women's Memorial asked the chapter to participate in the formal Wreath Laying Ceremony which we were eager to support.  We've been placing wreaths at the Women's Memorial since Memorial Day 2012.

Veterans Day 2013

Veterans Day is normally a two day event for us. We place the wreaths at the memorials the Saturday prior to Veterans Day, then on the day of Veterans Day, we attend Veterans Day services at the Air Force Memorial in the morning and at the Women's Memorial in the afternoon. The photos shown below depict our chapter wreaths at the Air Force Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Vietnam War Veterans Memorial, Vietnam War Women's Memorial, World War II Memorial, and the Women's Memorial.  As noted above, we participate in the Women's Memorial Wreath Laying Program.

Wreath Laying Ceremonies

Early in the morning on Veterans Day 2013, Eagle Chapter attended the wreath laying ceremony at the Air Force Memorial. Later in the day, we attended the wreath laying program at the Women's Memorial. In 2013, we were the only Air Force heritage organization to participate in the program.  See the program pages below.  We are very proud to represent our service and to aid in distinguishing our female vets - many of whom have given the ultimate sacrifice.
